Supporting the community is a major priority for Vanivo. In addition to providing web development services at no cost to a few non-profit organizations, Vanivo is partially sponsoring a 15,000 mile motorcycle ride for treating childhood cancer. On top of all that, we run a computer recycling program, accepting donated computers and giving them to families and individuals that need them.
We've provided website design (and in most cases web hosting, too) at no cost to the following non-profit organizations.
- RideSouth.org - Motorcycle Journey Fundraiser - www.RideSouth.org
- Dave Kim for Oregon State Senate - www.davekimforsenate.com
- University of Oregon Cheerleading - cheer.uoregon.edu
- Niche Film and Music Festival - www.nichefestival.com
RideSouth.org - 15,000 Miles for Treating Childhood Cancer
Vanivo founders Nick and Tony are organizing a 3-month motorcycle journey from Portland, Oregon to Tierra del Fuego (the bottom of South America), benefitting Doernbecher Children's Hospital. To learn more about this fundraiser, go to www.RideSouth.org.
Common Sense Computer Recycling
In our business, we run across many offices and individuals who need to dispose of their used computer hardware without throwing it in the garbage (which is bad for the environment) or paying someone to take it away. When we replace your old computers, we can take them off your hands, and recycle them the best way we can think of – give them to someone who can use them. Many low-income families and senior citizens would like to own their own computer, but can’t afford a new one. Our program allows these families and individuals to apply for a computer, and we’re able to match them with one that was donated by you.
Help move a family into the digital world by donating your unneeded hardware today. Just let us know when we’re replacing your old hardware, and we’d be happy to find someone who could use it.
If you or someone you know are in need of a computer but can’t find the funds to buy a new one, e-mail us today at email@example.com. We may have just the computer for you.
Acceptable donations include computers, components, monitors, printers, peripherals (mice, keyboards, etc.), networking equipment, and cables in working condition. We may decline acceptance of any equipment if our storage facilities are at capacity or if the hardware will not be able to help our program beneficiaries. This is not a government-endorsed or legally documented charity by any means (just people helping people) and no tax deduction can be made on the equipment you donate.
Data Security: By donating a computer to our program, you agree to not hold us liable for wiping the contents of donated hard drives, or any monetary or non-monetary consequences resulting from data exposure. All hard drives we receive will be formatted, but this does not guarantee that all the data is unrecoverable. If your hard drives contain sensitive data we suggest you get them professionally wiped or even shredded to ensure data confidentiality.
Apply for a Computer
If you are in need of a computer but can’t find the funds to buy one, please send us an e-mail and we’ll be happy to put you on the waiting list. We can’t guarantee any specific configurations since all computers for this program are donated, but we will install an open-source, reliable operating system (Ubuntu) with an office suite (OpenOffice) for basic use. We look forward to helping you as best as we can!
